more than words can say (For Writers)

there is a world
outside of storybooks
outside of ink
on stark white page
something that can not
be captured
in any net of words
no matter how tight
the knots

--Megan

A Word from a Bumblebee

we are all Underestimated
Shoved into groups
and Statistics
told not to move
so that nobody has to reEvaluate
That requires work

crammed into Boxes
the size of two fists
Pressed together
The apparent size of
simple, understandable brains

boxes are organized
rows, patterns, stripes
whatever They deem fit

a Smirk down noses
too high in the Air
they call us Numbers
and numbers. don’t. talk.
Period.

here, We separate

because You accept the fates
in Your mind, they makes sense
but all You know
are the facts they have
courteously taught You

you don’t Jump
because you can’t Fly
a fact—yes?
have you tried

fact is what you Make it
they have no say
they tell you a Wrong answer
is Bad. a Mistake.
but what is “right”
the opposite of Left
Both eventually lead you
where you want to go
It’s the experience—
the Story—
that matters
you made the Journey
the arrival is already known

what story do you have
inside the two-fist Box
It may be the size of your brain
but could anything that
Small possibly contain
all of your Ideas

told to “think Outside the box”
told that it is Hard
but the box is Rigid
small—
there’s a whole
World outside

Ignore their “right”
take your Left
Get out of the box
breathe some Lighter air
Find that summit
and look down at the Pattern

The pattern that told you
Your Wings Are Too Small

let those wings spread
and Make the underSide
of the Sky

don’t be afraid to fly

--Megan
